Recruiting and Sponsoring New Usborne Consultants is a very rewarding experience,
in many ways, both personal and financial.
First you are helping someone start her own home business. You’re also
making a new friend, sharing an tremendous opportunity for earning – both
financial and personal, and promoting literacy not only yourself but as a
group! AND you are also helping yourself.
Notice I put the other person first in this discussion. That’s where the
focus needs to be, on that person and what she/he wants and needs and can
get out of Usborne Books at Home. When you help them reach their goals, you’ll reap benefits
too.
Offer this business to everyone. You never know who may need or want just
what Usborne has to offer. By not sharing, you are essentially choosing for
them. Our job is to share the opportunity, and allow others to choose if
they’d like to be happily involved with UBAH. We’re not forcing it on
anyone.
We’re in a business you can be very proud of. We help others be
successful business owners, we promote reading and learning, we promote
family time. Read the Usborne mission statement – know that it’s what we’re all
about. Who wouldn’t want to be part of this great organization?!
Develop your 30 Second Commercial
Below, write what you can say to people when they ask what do you DO?
Make it a Wow! How? statement
Practice this "commercial" so you can comfortably and easily tell people
what it is that you do with Usborne. Know what you have to offer them. Know the current
special. Be ready to share more with them. Have a couple recruiting packet
in your purse or car so you can give them more info. to take home and then
set up a time you can call or get together to chat more. (You can always
give them my name and # and ask them to call me for more information too. Or
you can give me their name and # and I’ll be glad to call them on your
behalf).

active booking schedule, hold 2 shows a week and your group will grow (not
to mention your wallet!)
Inviting vs. Announcing
From
www.Ilenemeckley.com
Are you announcing how you love your business and hoping people will want
to join you or are you inviting everyone to join you in starting a business?
There is such a difference! Here is an example someone shared with me once
to help paint a picture of the difference in announcing versus inviting.
Imagine baking your special chocolate chip cookies and then your next
door neighbor calls to chat. You go on and on about these wonderful
cookies you just baked - "They are my best Ever!" you say. And then
you continue chatting. Well, that evening when your neighbor's spouse
comes home, she mentions her conversation with you as they discuss the
day. She says, "Evidently she baked the best cookies she's ever made.
She just kept raving about them, but guess what? She never even
offered me one!"
This demonstrates the difference between announcing: "I have just started
this wonderful new home business With Usborne Books At Home! I'm so
excited about their products and about helping other people learn about the
books and the business. It's just fantastic." and then
continuing on to *invite* them to join your group: "You know Cindy,
I'd love to have you join me in this. I think you'd really love this
business too. Would you like me to show you some books and give you
some more information about the company?"
Here's Illene's way of introducing the business opportunity at her
shows...
"Tonight I want to invite each and everyone of you to think about joining
me by starting your own home-based business. I know many of you are busy
moms and are thinking how can I add a business to my already crazy, hectic
life. Would you enjoy a business that you can do alongside your family and
other activities and at the same time be adding income to your family
budget? Many of you have a full time career and you might be thinking why
would I want a business after having worked all day. Would you enjoy a
business where you are the boss and make all the decisions after having
worked for a boss all day? This is a great way to try out something new.
Some of you are retired or are approaching retirement age and are thinking
why would I want to work after having worked so many years. Would you enjoy
a business where you can have all the time you need to do all the things you
have been waiting to do and have some extra income to do all those things?
This is also a way to continue to personally and professionally grow at the
same time. I know some of you are seeing our products for the first time or
are not real familiar with us. There are lots of people who we want to share
our products with. We could really use your help. As you can see I feel this
business fits into anyone's lifestyle and I do hope you will all think about
joining me.
Now for the reason we are all here. Let's talk about the products!"
